The role of plastics in human life

Page view:848

In the process of modernization of human society, plastic materials play a vital role.

It's beautiful to talk about the use of plastic. As we all know, at present, oil is the main raw material, but also in the study and development of natural gas and coal as raw materials consumption process, but from the world, oil, natural gas and coal can only be developed for 40 years, 60 years and 225 years, therefore, plastics should be used in the most demand, use their strengths, strengths and weaknesses, make the best use of recycling.

Here we talk about the status and role of plastics in the development of human civilization.

First, the use of plastics in agriculture.

China is a developing agricultural country, but also a relatively poor land and water resources country. In China's 9.6 million square kilometers of land, arable space is only 10%, which is half of the world's per capita arable space. China is also a water-poor country, with per capita water resources only 1/4 of the world's per capita level, and is listed as one of the 13 countries with the poorest water in the world. In the past 30 years, under the high attention and vigorous support of the Chinese government, equipment agriculture and water-saving irrigation have been thriving, and land and water resources have lost reasonable maintenance and use, among which plastics have played a vital role. Shed film, mulch film, sunshade net, insect-proof net, revolving box, pallet, seedling feeder, silage film, etc., geomembrane, water pipeline (high pressure, medium pressure water pipe) micro-irrigation pipe, drip irrigation pipe, etc. used in water-saving irrigation are made of polyethylene, polypropylene, PVC, EVA and other materials. The use of agricultural plastics, extending the growth cycle of crops, improving crop yield and land utilization, wasting water and soil resources, has a special significance to ensure China's food security.

Second, the use of plastics in the scope of construction.

The area of new urban housing in China increased from 92 million square meters in 1980, 170 million square meters in 1990, 549 million square meters in 2000 to 821 million square meters in 2009. In the past 30 years, the growth has exceeded eight times, and China's annual new housing area has accounted for 50% of the world's total. China has only 4.6 percent of the world's forest area. The per capita forest area is less than 1/4 of the world average, ranking 134th in the world, but the excessive logging of timber is still quite serious. In order to alleviate the contradiction of the tight demand for wood, the contribution of plastics is indispensable in the process of the large-scale expansion of the construction scope. In the doors and Windows, due to the use of PVC doors and Windows, the air tightness, water tightness, sound insulation, heat insulation, weather resistance, corrosion resistance, stiffness, decoration, the use of maintenance are better than ordinary steel and aluminum alloy doors and Windows, energy saving 30%~50%, the current annual market demand for plastic doors and Windows in China is 1.5 million tons. Plastic profiles have the advantages of light weight, corrosion resistance, pressure resistance, weather resistance, good water activity, easy processing and installation, long service life, etc., with China from time to time to accelerate the pace of modern city establishment, strengthen sewage resource disposal, in the water drainage system, building heating, water supply, gas supply system, the international plastic pipe market demand is growing at a rate of more than 12% per year, In 2010, the output of plastic pipes in China reached 4.5 million tons. By 2015, it reached 6 million tons, and China has become the country with the largest amount of plastic pipes in the world. It can be seen that the weight of plastics in the national economic establishment.

Third, the use of plastics in the range of automobiles.

China's automobile industry as an important pillar industry of the national economy, plastics due to its processing and molding process of low consumption, high efficiency, after use can be recycled and reused, become in the automobile to complete the process of "reduction, reuse, resource waste environmentally friendly materials materials." Automotive plastics cover PP, PVC, ABS, PA, PC, PE, etc., the larger variety PP, is growing at a rate of 2.2%~2.8% per year, the use of plastic manufacturing auto parts instead of metal and alloy material parts, not only can make the car surface design more humane, diversified, improve safety, comfort, appreciation, convenient assembly and maintenance, More importantly, it can reduce the weight of the vehicle, reduce fuel consumption and hydrocarbon emissions. For every 125kg reduction in weight, the car can run one kilometer more per liter of fuel. Adding 1% of the car's own weight can save 1% of fuel, reducing 1% of the moving parts of the car can save 2% of fuel. Internationally, the amount of automotive plastics has become an important sign of weighing the level of a country's automobile development, the current European primary car plastic usage reached 150~250 kg/vehicle, although the national brand car plastic consumption only reached 80~100 kg/vehicle, but it is growing at a very alarming rate. According to the United States Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) evaluation: every 10% of the car's body weight, fuel consumption can be reduced by 6% to 8%. Plastics are becoming a better material for lightweight cars.

Fourth, the use of plastics in medical and food packaging.

Ten years ago, China's consumption of pharmaceutical plastic products was 13.5 billion yuan, and the detailed consumption ratio was 22% of low-density polyethylene, 20% of polyvinyl chloride, 20% of polystyrene, 12% of high-density polyethylene, and 10% of polypropylene. People can use UHMWPE to make artificial hip joints, bone nails, etc. The use of polytetrafluoroethylene and other artificial heart, lung, blood vessels, heart membrane, various control organs and artificial skin; Use polyethylene, polypropylene, non-toxic polyvinyl chloride to manufacture syringes, blood transfusion bags, etc.; ABS can be used to manufacture the casing of surgical tools and diagnostic instruments. The amount of plastic used in food packaging accounts for 25% of the total plastic production, of which PET and PEN bottles are mainly used for beverage packaging, and oriented polypropylene film and polyvinylidene chloride film are mainly used for food packaging.
